Retinoblastoma - An Eye Cancer in Children

Retinoblastoma is a life threatening eye cancer that affects children. In India, it is most often detected too late to save the eye. In less fortunate children the tumor affects both their eyes. The cancer is often missed or misdiagnosed at the early stages, and progresses till the eye becomes painful, red and swollen. The cancer becomes a threat to life when it involves the body outside the eye. If the cancer is detected early, it can be treated by chemotherapy.
